FAQ

GENERAL 

What is your address? 
Our address is 283 Crab Orchard Rd, Frankfort, KY 40601. 
Some GPS navigation systems will not lead you to our location, however most will. We have brown signs that will lead you to us once you exit 48 off of I-64.

Do you offer cocktails and/or food? 
We do, but typically only on Fridays and Saturdays.

​

Can we bring our own food? 
Yes, not a problem. You cannot bring your own spirits, beer, or other alcohol items into the distillery or surrounding areas.

​

Are you family-friendly? 
Yes! Minors are allowed into our facility if they are accompanied by an adult at all times. You must be 21+ to participate in a tasting or purchase cocktails or bottles. Please be prepared to show a valid ID.

​

Are you pet friendly? 
Yes, if your pet is also friendly. As we have dogs and cats on our team, we recommend your pet is kept always leashed. You are responsible for your pet at all times while on property, including cleaning up after your pet, when necessary.

​

Are you cigar friendly?
Yes, but outside only. Cigarette smoking isn’t allowed inside either, and we ask that you smoke away from the still house.

TOURS & TASTINGS

What do I do when I arrive? 
Go past the gift shop, and follow the signs all the way to our Stillhouse (the largest barn black barn/red roof) on the property bottom of the hill, then check in at our front door with our Steward.

How many people can you accommodate in a Tour & Tasting group? 
The maximum number of people we have been able to accommodate is a 55 passenger coach of guests, however any more than that at the same time would be challenging. The ideal group size is up to 20-26 people during any given half-hour.

How long is the tour? 
The tour & tasting experience takes approximately 35-45 minutes. However, our guests are encouraged to stay, take their time, have a cocktail, and enjoy our farm. 

Do I need to make a reservation for each individual attending a Tour/Tasting? 
Reservations are ideal, which should include all members of your party. We offer a free tour for designated drivers and minors, however they won’t be allowed to taste or drink spirits.

Do you take walk-in tours?
Absolutely. Come on down. However, please oblige us with a call to 502-552-1001 letting us know you are coming. Sometimes you may need to be combined with another group for your Tour & Tasting.

What if I want to change our Tour or Tasting reservation?
Once you have booked your visit, you will receive a confirmation email. Tours and Tastings can be modified by calling the distillery or emailing HERE. 

​

What if I’m running late or early?
We know plans can change when travelling. Try to reschedule your tour online first. Also, please give us a call if you are running late for your Tour or Tasting. We will do our best to accommodate late or early arrivals, however you may be considered “walk-up.” Our hotline is 502-552-1001.

Do you offer a military/veterans discount? 
We do offer a 10% discount on Tours & Tastings for military & veterans.

​

How does this work with Covid-19? 
As most of the tour involves being outside or in large open spaces, social distancing isn’t a problem. We follow the CDC recommended guidelines. Please stay home if you are at high risk, sick, or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.

Do you have a gift shop, and can I visit without purchasing a Tour & Tasting? 
Yes, the Whiskey Thief Store sells everything from apparel to bar supplies, mixers, the best of Kentucky, and Bourbon miscellanea – treats, books, tailgating equipment, and much more!

SPIRITS

Do you ship your spirits? 
Based on the current laws, we are unable to ship spirits. However, we will be offering a compliant solution to select U.S. States very soon. Make sure you give us your email address and sign our guest book to be notified when we start shipping to your State.

How many bottles can I purchase? 
You can purchase up to twelve 750ml bottles per person per day (9 liters). We offer case discounts as well.

​

Are your products sold in stores?
Currently, we have exclusive distribution rights for all spirits at our distillery location. So, if you want some of our spirits, you need to purchase them here. Most of our other non-alcohol products are available in the Whiskey Thief Store and our online store.

​

Why don't you distribute?
Currently, we don’t. As we sell unique single-barrel products, we value direct relationships with our customers. The demand for on-site sales has been great. But, never say never. Our plan is to increase sales by shipping online soon. Also, we are looking to be carried in select retailers later.

OTHER

What are your hours, and are you closed on specific holidays? 
Check the main page of this site for current hours. For holidays, we are closed New Year’s Day, Easter, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. We are open on Derby day.

Can we rent the distillery for a special event, wedding, meeting, possibly including food, etc.? 
If you can dream it, we will work to accommodate it.

Do you sell empty barrels?  
Yes, occasionally, as supply will allow.

​

Do you sell full barrels? Or single barrel picks?
Yes, but it has to be bottled. However, we also have a single barrel program, in conjunction with Distijl. For more information email here.

Can RVs and Campers stay overnight? 
Yes, we are a location on Harvest Hosts, reservations can be made at harvesthosts.com. We don’t currently offer electricity or sewer hookup.

Do you offer contract co-packing and contract distilling?  
Yes. We work with a growing number of brands offering co-packing/bottling services, as well as contract distilling. Contact us HERE for more information.

Who are the three BOYS/brothers?
They are 17 years old and while they are sometime around the farm, the three boys and their family have recently moved to Louisiana.

Charity, sponsorship, or marketing ideas?

No weapons or firearms are permitted on property. 
No smoking. Use of e-cigarettes, cigarettes, or open flames are also prohibited in or within 100ft of our buildings.
